The Brahma Gayatri is dedicated to Lord Brahma, the creator god in the Hindu Trimurti (trinity) alongside Vishnu and Shiva.

Meaning

  • Vedatmanaya - The soul/essence of the Vedas
  • Hiranyagarbhaya - The golden womb/cosmic egg
  • Brahma - The creator god

Significance

Brahma is unique among the Trimurti for having very few temples dedicated to him. The most famous is in Pushkar, Rajasthan. Despite this, his role as creator and source of the Vedas makes him essential to Hindu cosmology.
