The complete purification mantra invoking Vajrasattva to purify all negative karma and obscurations
The Vajrasattva 100-Syllable Mantra is the most powerful purification practice in Vajrayana Buddhism. It is one of the preliminary practices (ngöndro) typically recited 100,000 times.
Structure
The mantra is a prayer to Vajrasattva containing:
- Invocation of the samaya (sacred bond)
- Requests for stability, satisfaction, growth, and love
- Prayer for all accomplishments (siddhis)
- The seed syllables Hum and the laughing syllables Ha Ha Ha Ha Hoh
- Affirmation of the vajra nature
Practice
Traditionally visualized with Vajrasattva above one's head, white in color, holding vajra and bell. Nectar flows down purifying all negativities which leave as black smoke from the pores.
